3/16/09 Articles of Incorporation Submitted to NC Secretary of State
3/21/09 1st Quarterly Meeting: Bylaws approved and signed by 17 Founding Members. Officers are Roy Bamfield (President), Joan Anderson (Vice President), Victoria Mabry (Secretary), and Jeanne Schicke (Treasurer). Members are fostering 4 "special needs" dogs and sponsoring 1 other dog recovering from an operation.
3/25/09 Articles of Incorporation Filed by NC Secretary of State
3/28/09 Logan's Run Rescue found a home for Ramos, a young German Shepherd, and transported him from Tylertown in southern Mississippi to his forever home in Andrews, NC.

4/25/09 Logan's Run has taken in Casper (id #9), a snow white, 3 month old deaf, Australian Shepherd with beautiful blue eyes in Blairsville, Georgia. He was rescued from being put down by a breeder because of his deafness.

6/5-7/09 Logan's Run Rescue found 3 rescues for 23 dogs from St. Francis Animal Sanctuary in Mississippi and helped transport them to Coastal Jack Russell Rescue in SC, Hug A Puppy Rescue in NJ, and Meet the Pack Rescue in Ontario, Canada.

8/14/09 "Misguided Angel" Max (id #16) was euthanized due to aggression towards other dogs. He had completed Jemi Hodge's "Doggie Boot Camp" in Va. We were so hopeful that he could change, but somehow he couldn't. He is so missed and loved by his foster Dad Ron. Oh God, it hurts!

8/18/09 3rd Quarterly Meeting of 2009: Wayon and Marian Hill were voted in as members. Londi Moore outlined Spay and Neuter goals for LRR and the Alliance with ST. Francis Animal Sanctuary. Since 4/1/09, 51 out of 58 dogs accepted by LRR have been adopted or sent to other no-kill rescues for adoptions, 1 euthanized, and 6 available.
8/19/09 "Bouncy" Josie (id #57) was adopted by Charlie Key to live on 40 acres in Alabama.
8/20/09 Logan's Run Rescue Accepted Beary (id #59), a handsome, rugged rottweiler mix who survived a bear fight on Fires Creek in Clay County.

9/12/09 Logan's Run Rescue accepted Harley (id #65), Howie (id #66), and Beretta (id #67), from Catawaba County, NC. These spectacular dogs are two pure bred German Shepherds (Harley and Beretta) and a border collie (Howie), all sweet with great personalites.
9/14/09 Logan's Run Rescue accepted Callie (id #68), a hound mix stray from Hwy 60 near Murphy with a sweet personality.
9/15/09 LRR held our informal September meeting at Susan Cranstone's House. Opening a gift-type thrift shop in Murphy and taking in local puppy litters for NSAL, in return for being allowed to fix the "local" dog parents were discussed and approved.

9/26/09 Logan's Run Rescue accepted Pete, (LRR #94), a great-looking 13 year old rat terrier by owner surrender from Clay County.

On 10/18/09, the previous owner Kim Zielski decided to readopt him - thank God because at his age there was little chance of finding a good home.

9/26/09 Sweet Cricket (LRR #71), was adopted by Alan and Beth Rollins in Murphy, North Carolina for her "forever home".

9/26/09 Beautiful Bones (LRR #58), was adopted by Donna Aiken in Columbia, South Carolina for her "forever home".
9/26/09 Clever Howie (LRR #66), Gorgous Beretta (LRR #67), Handsome Kodak (LRR #69) went to Canada to be accepted by Meet the Pack Rescue in Lyndhurst, Ontario to find their forever homes. The transport was contracted through Casey Lattimer of the Delta Humane Society in Rayville, Louisiana.
9/30/09 Three female dogs (Chubs, Roxy, and Lacy) owned by the Croft family were spayed in return for giving up a litter of puppies (#76-#80)to be sent to NSAL. This is the "new" PEPOP program, designed to lower the future number of puppy litters.

10/13/09 Logan's Run had an informal monthly meeting at the new Thrift Shop. LLR has taken in 104 dogs since opening about 6.5 months ago, and 12 are available, one was euthanized, 19 were adopted, and 72 were sent to rescues. And now after only a month of planning and working, the new Thrift Shop is set to open in two days with Jeanne Schick in charge. We have accomplished a lot.
10/15/09 Logan's Run Rescue opened its new Thrift Store on Hwy 64 under the direction of Jeanne Schick and friends.
10/15/09 Logan's Run Rescue sent four handsome fellows: Jazzy id#85, Clyde id#86, Tucker id#87, and Hunter id#95 and two pretty ladies: Dora id#103 and Jazzy id#104 off to Meet the Pack Rescue in Canada to find their forever homes. Ron will miss Hunter! God bless them all. Casey Lattimer drove the transport!

11/6&7/09 Logan's Run Rescue sent Ditch (LRR #70), Georgia (LRR #41), Molly (LRR #107), and Sadie (LRR #109) to 4 different rescues in the Chicago area. Ron Stoessell drove them up. Bones (LRR #58), a deaf dalmation mix was returned from an earlier adoption in SC, and Terry Drinkut and Lynne Wilson drove her to her new adopted home in TN. And Joesy (LRR #45), a rat terrier was returned to her foster Ron Stoessell from a rescue in GA.

11/10/09 Logan's Run Rescue had its 4th Quarter Meeting. Charlene Lanza and Linda and Gary Gilmore were voted in as new members. A proposal was presented by Ron Stoessell for a vote on in the 1st Quarter Meeting to amend the By-Laws to (1) include as Founding Members all members joining through the end of 2009, (2) provide a provision to replace Founding Members if they leave, and (3) allow only the Founding Members to vote on Future Members, removing Members, and amending the By-Laws.
11/13/09 Logan's Run Rescue accepted Maui (LRR #137), a Chihuahua from Towns Co, GA; Serenity (LRR #138), a tan and black coonhound feist mix from Clay Co, NC; and Toby (LRR #139), a handsome beagle from Towns Co, GA. with a mangled back leg from an old injury. 11/14-16/09 Logan's Run Rescue sent Ron Stoessell to New York State to bring back Koda (aka Beretta, LRR #67) and Kodak (LRR #69) (two magnificent German shepherds) from Ontario where they had not been adopted and had begun to develop personality problems in a rescue-shelter environment. We needed to bring them back to the supportive environment of our fosters.

12/08/09 The transport to Long Island driven by Ray Shick and Dick Godfirnon left carrying 17 dogs for North Shore Animal Alliance (Calvin, #7; Taylor, #101; Zorro, #103; Kirby, #108; Sadie, #110; Wesley, #113, and two litters of puppies: the Wilbanks litter of 5 puppies, #116-120; and the Heitzenrater litter of 6 puppies, #131-136), and for 3 dogs: (Wrinkles, #128; Suzie, #144; Scooter, #154 with 2 cats from the VRHS Shelter) for the Homeless Animals Rescue Team. The weather was terrible but all arrived safe and sound. Cute Little Lobo #25 was returned from NSAL to be fostered by Ron Stoessell. In February, 2010, Suzie was returned by the Homeless Animals Rescue Team to LRR and then accepted by NSAL. She appeared the following week on the ABC TV Show "The View" and was adopted by a member of the audience.
12/09/09 Along with the weekly fixing of LRR animals every Wednesday, LRR began facilitating the fixing of cats and dogs of non-LRR animals at Lake Chatuge Animal Hospital. This is a Community Outreach Program coordinated by Linda Bamfield in which the Lake Chatuge Animal Hospital gives the low LRR rates to individual-owned animals, provided the fixing and paper work is done through LRR. Four cats were neutered and given their rabies shots today (along with 4 LRR dogs). We have great hopes that this program will further help reduce the number of unwanted pets in our area.
